I have a comment in regards to the questioned asked, "What if my employer does not tell me about the panel of doctors?"
When I sustained my head and neck injury, my job was made well aware of the matter. I was taken to the ER (Emergency Room) only to receive medications. Later on that morning, around 10:00 AM, I was taken down to their clinic but only for a drug-screening. The safety coordinator told the nurse that I didn't need to see a doctor because I had seen one in the ER and had a couple of days off from work.
As I returned and the weeks went on, I started having severe pain and spasms in my neck along with a lot of stiffness. As days turned into weeks, the pain continued to worsen. When I would ask someone in human resources about when would I be allowed to go see a doctor, I would receive the run around. I decided to return to the ER on my own after the pain would not subside. From there, I notified my job of the diagnosis. I was then told that I would have to see a company doctor after having gone to see a chiro and ortho. In the end, I never saw a company doctor. I did see a good friend of the adjuster, which in turn gave the run around as well. I was wondering if this was how disturbing the insurance company was, or was it due to the fact that I never saw the panel of physicians from the beginning.
