What is a catastrophic injury?

Catastrophic injuries ordinarily involve one or more of the following:

  • Amputations;
  • Severe paralysis;
  • Severe head injuries;
  • Severe burns;
  • Blindness; and
  • Other severe injuries that prevent an injured worker from performing his or her prior work and from performing any other.
